Lee & Amanda – Relationship Progression Notes (Pt3)

PART THREE: CONFRONTATIONS

Lee’s search for Amanda begins.  He has very little to go on, but somehow, some way, he manages to find out who she is.  Having got her name, now all he needs to do is find a way to speak to her.  Then what seems to be the perfect opportunity presents itself. Disguised as one of the pirate servers, he ensures that he is at Moby’s Dock when Amanda brings her children to eat there after football practice. He approaches her under the guise of giving her a Gangplank burger, although at that moment Amanda is so busy trying to dish out the food she already has to the kids in the back that she doesn’t actually at first realise that it is Lee standing there in front of her.

Unexpected

When Lee flips his eye patch up with a cheeky flourish and a smile, Amanda is visibly shocked.  He’s alive!   He also seems to be unhurt which, although a relief, does little to dissipate her absolute astonishment at his sudden appearance. How did he manage to get away from those two men after they caught up with him on the train platform?

You again!

Not that Lee gives her the chance to even ask.  In no mood to waste time and completely forgetting his manners in the process, he cuts straight to the very heart of the matter, his voice fairly dripping accusation.

Confrontation

“You didn’t do what I told you!”

His words are like touch paper to a flame. Suddenly the mood between them flares and before either of them knows it they are arguing.  Lee may be angry with her for not doing what he asked, but Amanda’s not about to let him stand there hissing the odds without defending herself!  In fact, she’s not at all happy about the fact that he seems to be blaming her.  It’s hardly her fault that there were dozens of men in red hats on the train!  How was she supposed to know which man she was supposed to pass the package to?

Twentyfivemeninredhats

Their exchange is interrupted by Jamie, who, with a child’s inevitable curiosity, poses the one question that Amanda really doesn’t want to have to answer – and certainly not to her children.  That, after all, could lead to a whole new set of complications!

Who's this man you're whispering to

But Lee’s not finished. He still needs her to hand over the package.

I Want that Package

Amanda, thinking practically, tells him that she will drop it round to his house.  That seems like the most logical thing to do, especially when she doesn’t actually have the package with her. That’s no good though.  How can Lee, as an agent for the US government, just hand out his address to a complete stranger?  He will happily hand over a package containing sensitive information, but his address is quite another matter!

Ill come to your house

His reluctance is the final nail in the coffin as far as Amanda is concerned. She’s had enough.  They have obviously reached an impasse and there’s no way that she is going to continue speaking to him in front of the children.  She’s leaving!

“Let go of my car,” she warns as she starts up the engine.

Her actions take Lee completely by surprise.  He is definitely not expecting her to take off mid-argument nor keep driving while he is still clinging to her car!

Stay

“Wait!  Wait! Hold it!  Stop!  I have to see you!”

Desperate to keep some contact with her in some way, he reaches into his pocket and only just manages to secure his card under her windscreen before she tears off, car wheels screeching.

Call Me

What has Amanda got herself into?  The simple passing on of what looked like a completely innocuous package has turned into something far more mysterious – even dangerous!  However, she has a little card flapping about under her windscreen with Lee’s number on it so the ball is in her court to call him…

As for Lee, he has no idea how much the men who were after him know about Amanda’s involvement in the matter – if anything at all.  He can only hope that she will heed his words to get in touch.  After all, there must be a part of her that’s curious about all this?  One thing’s for sure, his life has just become a bit more complicated.  He not only has to solve the case, but he also has to make sure his actions at the train station do not ultimately put a suburban housewife and her children in any more danger than they might already be.

Favourite Lee Showing up in Amanda’s Backyard Scene

This is another of my absolute favourite episodes and tags. I’m pretty sure it’s also the first time Lee comes by Amanda’s backyard in the evening to check on her.

The Spy At My Window

Not that this is the first time he’s knocked on her window to get her attention – as she points out when she first comes outside to join him.

“You’re getting awful good at knocking on my kitchen window.”  I love his little smile of acknowledgement and his answering “Yeah.”

Night Call

Throughout this whole scene there is a charming awareness and awkwardness between them, moments when they look away from the other shyly, as if not quite knowing how to proceed.

tongue-tied

“So what are you doing in my garden at seven thirty at night?”  Amanda asks after one such pause.

Lee tells her that he’s come over to check she’s ok.  He could have easily phoned her to do this, but as it is he probably didn’t think twice about heading his car in the direction of Maplewood Drive.  She’s definitely pretty touched that he would even bother to check up on her.  It shows he cares about her, even if he wouldn’t tell her so.  There is a little pause before Lee looks at her, smiling thoughtfully, his thoughts turning to the case that’s just concluded.

Youre Going to Miss Her aren't you

Remembering Victoria

Amanda shrugs and smiles wistfully,  confessing that she probably will miss being Victoria a little bit.  Again they fall silent, each one looking away and rather shy with the other. For Amanda, despite the danger she ended up in at the hand’s of Hollander, the chance to be Victoria undoubtedly allowed her to take a step away from being the housewife and mother she has for so long been and enter a world a million miles from her own.  It’s probably not something she will forget in a hurry.  As for Lee, it was definitely a case that shifted the way he feels about her.  He certainly experienced some twinges of jealousy at seeing her not only in Delano’s company but also seeming to enjoy it too.

Awakening

Amanda is the first to break the silence that has ensured between them, although Lee really isn’t expecting her to ask him whether he said something nice to her in the ambulance.

Looking for Answers

“Like what?” He did, of course, say something nice but he’s certainly not ready to admit it.  In fact, he rather let his guard down in the ambulance thinking that she was unconscious and couldn’t hear him.  To own up to it would lead him into territory he’s not even ready to admit in his own mind – that he cares about her rather more than he might have realised.

A Moment of Panic

Amanda doesn’t pursue it further at seeing his rather wary and guarded look, but instead lets him off the hook by telling him that it was probably the sedatives playing tricks on her mind, which Lee, thrown this lifeline, more than willingly accepts and agrees with.

Again they fall silent, lost in their own thoughts, until Amanda makes a move to go inside the house again and although Lee seems a little reluctant to leave her he accepts his fate. Just when you think that they aren’t going to say anything else to each other, Amanda calls out to Lee, causing him to turn around.  She’s not quite finished questioning him. “How did you get me out of there?”

He doesn’t even hedge this time, but rather tells her the truth.

I Carried You

With a final smile to her he’s gone, leaving Amanda with the biggest smile on her face and repeating his words to herself as though she can’t quite believe it.

He carried me

You are left with the feeling that this particular case has definitely brought them a little closer than they were at its beginning.

New Music Video

As soon as I heard this song I thought it could have been written for Lee and so I made a video to it, taking it from his point of view and how Amanda made him whole again after so much loss in his life (family, love).  I posted on You Tube yesterday to mark what would have been their wedding anniversary in the series as it seemed fitting to do so.  I hope you enjoy it.

Lee & Amanda: Relationship Progression Notes (Pt2)

PART TWO – IN THE AFTERMATH

AMANDA

And so, for Amanda, having kindly agreed to help the man in the waiter’s uniform at the station, the morning has taken a rather different turn to the one she might have been expecting. She’s already had to get on a train she had no real desire to only to be faced with a carriage full of Shriners.  And, to top it all off, she’s had to explain to the ticket inspector just why she didn’t have a ticket – after all, who would willingly take a train journey in their nightgown?

Under this coat

Having returned home a dilemma now faces her.  What on earth should she do with the package?

Dilemma-Amanda

It’s hardly as though she even knows how to get in touch with the man who gave it to her and after seeing him being set upon by the men at the station, she doesn’t have any idea if he is even all right.

So who was he?  And what was he doing with the package she has now found herself the unexpected custodian of?  All she knows is that the desperation in his eyes was too compelling to ignore, in spite of his curtness towards her.  Also, if it is really a matter of life and death – what does that mean for her??

LEE

Lee, meanwhile, finally makes it back to the agency, having managed to get away from the bad guys and keep the package from them.  However, he soon learns that Gudfrie, the agent who was supposed to get the package from the woman at the station has since turned up dead and package-less.  This unwelcome fact only serves to fuel Lee’s frustration.  What was supposed to be a simple mission has become rather more complicated.  What’s more, the doctor who attended Gudfrie confirms that he saw no-one before he died!  That means that something must have happened to prevent the lady he approached at the station from carrying out his instructions.

A New Reality

Has he put her in danger, having asked for her help?  When he thrust the package into her hand he hadn’t been thinking of her safety or the risk she was taking.  If the people who were after the package got to Gudfrie then they could possibly also have gotten to her too – or at least have her under surveillance.

A Life

Where Impulse leads

Dirk, the non-too-happy Head of Internal Affairs, is decidedly incensed that Lee broke all agency protocols by handing sensitive information to a civilian, whereas Lee immediate superior, Billy Melrose, is altogether calmer.  He just wants to know who the woman is.

Who is this woman Lee

Not that Lee can tell him.  He has no idea who she is either.  She was just a pretty face in the crowd who he, although he knows he can never explain why, found himself drawn to.

Consequences

With the package now seemingly gone astray, he knows he needs to find her.  The trouble is, he has nothing to go on – not even her name.

My Latest Music Video: Photograph

Well, this is my 100th music video for Lee and Amanda.  Never in a million years did I expect to make so many, but here I am still making them and loving every moment.

To those of you who watch my videos, thank you so much for your support and enthusiasm over the years.  I truly do appreciate it.
